OVERVIEW

There is a palpable collective feeling of the intensified nature and accelerated speed of our personal and professional lives. This learning experience aims to provide space to process the clip at which we live and work. Drawing on the Slow Work and Gentle Living movements, alongside the neuroscience of mindfulness & compassion, this interactive journey aims to enable us to practice shifting the pace of our lives. 

 

With the unprecedented levels of burnout, loneliness and despair, this work invites educators, consultants and anyone interested in transforming their relationship to work to slow down. Together, we will create the space for participants to process burnout and develop contemplative-based resilience. 

Core Objectives

  • Explore a variety of healing-centered practices that support with slowing down in our personal & professional lives 

  • Examine the science and theoretical underpinnings of slow work, gentle living and their connection to social change 

  • Carve out time to a a self-inventory on the degree of burnout one experiences 

  • Network and build community with others who are eager to engage in this work & practice

For the last decade, Angel Acosta has worked to bridge the fields of leadership, social justice and mindfulness. He recently received his doctorate in the Curriculum and Teaching Department at Teachers College, Columbia University. Angel has supported educational leaders and their students by facilitating leadership trainings, creating pathways to higher education, and designing dynamic learning experiences. His dissertation explores healing-centered education as a promising framework for educational leadership development.
