Slow work and gentle living are responses to the fast pace, extraction, and exhaustion of capitalism.

And is a crucial component of the Healing Centered Paradigm.

In this communal and interactive journey, we'll fill the gap between research that proves the value of slowing down and the practice of actually slowing down in your personal and professional life.
Participants will have space to process burnout and develop contemplative-based resilience in alignment with the neuroscience of mindfulness & compassion.
This three-hour workshop experience is an invitation to educators, consultants and anyone interested in transforming their relationships to work by slowing down.

Hyperspeed turns life into a blur.

Slow work is bold

Slow work creates clear vision.

Slow work is a practice of presence.

Brought to you by the Acosta Institute

  • Flow states as a mechanism for engaging in productivity

  • The contributions of science in the field of slow work

  • Our accelerated relationship with time due to the speed of technological innovations

  • Indigenous and wisdom approaches to change, research, and work

WHY SLOW WORK?

Doing the work to slow down is part of the restorative turn and taking the real-world practice of healing seriously. We get to take this opportunity to move away from the rushed and inhumane pace of life and work that leaves us feeling sucked in, extracted from, and consumed.

Through this journey into the heart and experience of slowing down we’ll practice…

  • Meeting life in its fullness
  • Holding our paradoxes
  • Reducing our mental biases
  • Experiencing the array of our emotions
  • Cultivating the capacity to tend to our interior world
  • Building community and networking with others who are eager to slow down

There is power in taking ownership of the pace at which you engage.

“Because I am both grappling with trying to slow down and practicing slowing down it is very humbling…just as my reality, it's messy…And I’m just really aware of how pervasive the need for this is and how many systems and structures are working against [me slowing down].”
